Over My Dead Body is a documentary about the one thing everyone on earth has in common: one day we will all die. The purpose of the film is to explore what we know about the transition from life to death, how we deal with it, and where we think we will end up. The story follows an Ottawa actor, Lee, who has his own phobias of dying. Lee and the documentary crew head out to try and put his, and others’, fears to rest by seeing if there is an answer. Along the way, the film explores a variety of topics such as religion, family, and the paranormal, and they meet an eclectic mix of people with varying opinions on the matter. Lee’s will is tested as he faces his fear of snakes, heights and enclosed spaces. The film balances between the serious and the light-hearted, never forgetting that though death is inevitable, it’s what you do with life that matters. If there is an answer out there about what happens when we die, this documentary is “dead set” on finding it.
